WORKSHOP – Mushrooms of the Mount

Yea River Catchment Landcaremushroom, foray, heritage garden

An Adventure in a Curious Kingdom

– Exploring the Mushrooms of the Mount at Ard Choille

This foray introduces participants to the fungal curiosities of Ard Choille Heritage Garden.

Why are fungi so important to healthy gardens?

Why do they have such bizarre forms and amazing colours?

Which ones are delicious and can you distinguish them from those that could land you in the grave?

Our day begins with coffee on the croquet lawn as we search for answers to these questions through an interactive session on the natural and cultural history of fungi. There will be ample opportunity to explore, discuss and identify a great range of fungi collected locally.

Following a delicious morning tea, we’ll partake in an exciting foray among the ancient trees and less known corners of Ard Choille Heritage Garden, to search for fungal treasures.
