FORAY – Mt Alexander Foray

Mt Alexander Foray

What are all those fungi doing exactly out there in the landscape?

How do fungi help forests function?

How do we identify the myriad types of fungi to be found on Mt Alexander?

This all-day foray has an ecological focus where we will discover and discuss the many types of fungi and their important ecological roles. You will also learn how to identify fungi in the field using multiple senses and fungus field guides and keys. Bring along a magnifier, notebook, mirror and field guide if you have one.

We will pause at midday for hot soup and snacks around the campfire. Bring a flask of hot tea or something to drink.

Meet at the carpark at Dog Rocks.

Be sure to dress warmly and with waterproof clothing as this event is run entirely outside.

Further workshops can be viewed at this link.

Alison’s books, The Allure of Fungi and Wild Mushrooming will be available for purchase.
