– Mushroom identification workshop
Fungi delight and intrigue and provide the connective network of terrestrial ecosystems. There are fungi that heal, provide a delicious feast, or can send the unwary forager to the grave.
This interactive workshop introduces participants to the fascinating natural and cultural histories of fungi. It begins with an overview of the significance of fungi as the orchestrators of life and death and their role in underpinning the health and resilience of local ecosystems. Participants will get see and experience a variety of fungi in their various forms and manifestations.
Following this introduction to fungi, participants will learn the major features used to identify fungus specimens that they have brought along to the session.
The workshop will be run by ecologist Alison Pouliot. Alison will also share some anecdotes from her recent book, The Allure of Fungi, which will be available on the night for purchase.
